OOcup/2020 unblocked!

Tonight we have some really good news. Ain prefecture unblocked OOcup/2020 file which will now undergo standard procedure. Unless the second wave of Covid-19 arrives to France, we can do it. What is more, we are free to organise the event either in July during the original dates or in the mid August as planned alternatively.

The possibility to organise in July is a surprise to us since the French government (Ministry of sport) clearly stated earlier in the year that mass events until the end of July will not be possible. All July events in France were cancelled.

We are very sorry that the information which we proceeded from French government to you turned out to be incorrect. We are well aware that many of you changed plans for your holidays.

Anyway, we now have this strange situation where we need to decide very quickly which dates to choose. This is where we need your help. If you would like to go to OOcup, please answer which dates suit you better. Results of the poll will be one of the few factors to help us decide what to do. To have as many answers as possible, please inform your friends who want to come to OOcup about this poll. Thank you!

OOcup in August?

We were hoping that in the beginning of June we will be able to give you more information about OOcup in August. Unfortunately, Ain prefecture is still not able to give us clear and definite answer. However, services of Prefecture have examined our file and are waiting for the national directives to give us the green light for August. There are some more positive signs; epidemic situation in France is clearly getting better, Covid measures are loosening, borders should be open soon, 4 renowned international cycling races in Ain are rescheduled to August. All this gives us strong hope that we will finally be able to carry out the event. We are now waiting for the new set of instructions by French government around June 20th.

We are well aware of the inconvenience our late decision might be causing to all potential participants, but we are doing our best to squeeze out of the situation as much as possible.

Hope to see you in August!

No OOcup from July 25th to August 1st

Considering the latest information from French Ministry of Sport we have to inform you that OOcup/2020 will not be held from July 25th to August 1st. It is sad news, but giving up is still not an option :). We are now exploring possibilities to postpone the race to mid August (8. – 16. August). We will give more information about this idea in the beginning of June, when we will have clearer picture of what is realistic.

Another important notice: OOcup in Umeå, Sweden, will take place in 2022 instead of 2021!

Update regarding Covid-19

Update regarding Covid-19:

  • times are still very uncertain, but we are optimists and hope that the situation will calm down till the end of July and that it will be possible to carry out OOcup/2020 as planned.
  • we are now waiting for the next announcement by French government in the beginning of May which will hopefully shed some more light on the possibilities in the coming months.
  • the final decision about OOcup will be made as soon as possible but not later than 25th June

Regarding Covid-19

Regarding Covid-19 outbreak and OOcup please take note of the following:

  • We are still planning the event as normal and count on organizing it. If the “virus situation” will allow, the event will be held.
  • We are prolonging the first entry deadline until further notice.
  • If you plan to take part in OOcup/2020, we ask you to make entry but do NOT pay for the entry fee until we request you to. When/if things clear up we will give 14 days deadline in which we will ask for payment.
  • In case we’re forced to cancel the event due to Covid-19 outbreak, we will return the full amount of entry fees minus banking costs.
  • We will do our best to be as flexible as possible in these strange times :)!

Stay healthy!
