Less than 1 month to OOcup/2023

Preparations for 2023 edition are in full swing. There are some important notes we want to share with you:

CAMPERVANS:

Campervans can stay in Lokve during 5 days, but only in designated places. for 15€ per night per van you can stay in campervan parking at hotel Winkler. In this price are included both water and electricity. Please book your place in advance at: gostilna.winkler@siol.net

If their van parking get full, we have two more locations.

MERGED CLASSES (Updated 02.07):

Due to low number of entries we have merged several classes as follows:

M21ALONG + M21E = M21E
M21B + M21A Short = M21A Short
M85 + M80 = M80
W35 ULTIMATE + W21 ULTIMATE = W21 ULTIMATE
W75 + W70 = W70

BUS TRANSPORT AND CLOSED ROAD MALA LAZNA LOKVE:

Bus transport was planned for 3 stages, but due to road works and road Mala lazna – Lokve officially being closed during the day, we had to cancel transport on stage 4 from Arena to start. The same terrain will used as planned but the concept of courses will be slightly changed. The buses for 2nd and 3rd stage are booked and will operate as originally planned.

The closed road Mala lazna – Lokve might also affect anyone accommodated in Ajdovščina area. There are possible detours via (Ajdovščina- Nova Gorica – Lokve) or via Trnovo (Mala lazna – Trnovo – Lokve)

Stay tuned for further information!

Banking data added

In Invitation section you can now find banking details for entry fee payment.

OOcup/2022 is now history

OOcup/2022 is over. Big thanks to all of you who took part – it was amazing to see how many of you have trust in OOcup and are willing to travel 3000km or more to run courses that we serve. It was even more amazing to see many of you after the race coming to us saying that the event was worth the travel. Thanks, that keeps us going!

A big thanks goes also to the organizing team – both OOcup staff and Umeå OK members did a great job so that the races ran smoothly.

Last but definitely not least, a big thanks to Tjelvar – the great guy without whom this event almost certainly would not happen. Tjelvar, OK, I might be a bit crazy, but from “Let’s do it” we came to “We did it” – and that’s something ;)!

Thank you and see you around
Ivan

1st stage is behind us

The first stage is now over, it was really nice to see you so many in Skravelsjö. The tricky terrain caused many mistakes today but most of all lots of fun. We now have to move for tomorrow’s stage in Hössjö.

For those who don’t know, results (live and later official) will be published every day at OrienteeringOnline.

We should get some photos on our Facebook page.

Maps are published at Livelox after each stage.

See you tomorrow!

BUS passangers list

Here is the list of bus passangers. Please check if your name is correctly on the list.

We still haven’t received bus payment from 3-4 persons from the list. Please do so as soon as possible, otherwise we might have to cancel your seat reservation.

Bulletin is here

You can download the Bulletin here.

There was a mistake in our previous post; parking ticket will be sold for 3€/day and not 5€/day. Well, that’s a good news :).

Please note that entry to regular classes is no longer possible. But you can still enter OPEN classes.

Carpool group, parking tickets etc.

Now we’re getting really closer and closer to the first ever OOcup in Sweden!

Some important notices:

1. No more bus seats are available. We filled 2 buses and there are not enough interested people to order the third one.

But we’ve just created OOcup/2022 carpool group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1387431645086601

If you have an extra seat feel free to offer it in the group to reduce your travel costs or to just meet new people. And, of course, if you need a ride to the Arenas, please post it in the group.

2. This year we will use Parking tickets 5€/stage, 25€ / all 5 stages.

3. Motorhomes will be allowed to stay at Parkings, but please check the Bulletin for the schedule when and where to overnight.

4. Due to 2 cancellations we now again have 2 rooms available; a double and a triple one at action prices in Hotel Scandic Syd. If you’re interested let us know.

_________

Else, we’re on the good way. Maps are going to be printed in the next days – as soon as we know the final number of competitors.

It’s been a while now that all stages are checked by local controllers and well, they all say some really nice competitions are ahead of us. You can still make entry until July 1st and NOR miss this historic event 😜!

Course lengths published

Quite an intensive but highly enjoyable period up in Umeå is now behind us. We mapped the last bits of missing terrain, checked the maps for the last time and premarked all the controls… well, we’re almost ready :).

Here you can download the pdf with course lengths: LINK.

As we are approaching the 1000 entries milestone, let us remind you that you can still enter OOcup until July 1st! Competitors from 30 countries and 4 continents have already decided to do so, among them is also the best orienteer of all times Simone Niggli! We really don’t know how soon will it be possible to run OOcup in Nordic terrain again, so we kindly suggest to grab the chance :)!

A short note for the local runners; we’re aware that OPEN classes are getting more and more popular in Sweden and we’ll be ready for number of entries on the race day, however, to make things easier for us we would greatly appreciate if you make your entry in advance – even if  you’re going for the OPEN class.  You can make entry for just one stage and then decide about the rest during the week.

After filling up the first bus we have ordered the second one, which is now also full. We do not plan to add any more buses, unless we get 40 or more inquries for transport between Umeå and Arenas. If you’re interested in that feel free to write us.

Lastly, please note that we’re organizing Bubo camp on Cres island at the end of July. Sun, crystal clear sea and some great orienteering! Check www.bubocup.com for more info.
